Committed to its mission of attracting professionals with leadership potential in the United States, the Fundación participated this week in the “EU–UE Emerging Leaders” program.

Titled “Strengthening the international financial architecture”, the initiative brought together ten young experts from the private sector and the U.S. government in Brussels and Madrid to discuss the challenges and opportunities of the international financial architecture and to strengthen transatlantic ties.

During their stay in Spain, the participants visited some of the country’s main institutions, including the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Business; the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation; and the Bank of Spain. They also gained first-hand insight into the activities of entities within our Patronage, such as Banco Santander, BBVA, and CaixaBank, in addition to attending other high-level meetings.

The program also included a lunch with a broad representation of the Fundación’s Patronage at the Club Financiero Génova, fostering an enriching dialogue on economic cooperation, financial stability, and the role of Europe and the United States in today’s global context.

The participants also held a conversation with Charles Powell, Director of the Real Instituto Elcano, who provided them with an overview of contemporary Spain. In addition, they exchanged views with representatives from Aspen Institute España, Fulbright Network Spain, and the Spanish Public Policy Network, and immersed themselves in Spanish culture by attending a flamenco performance.

This program is carried out in collaboration with the European Union, through the European External Action Service, and on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, thus reinforcing the shared commitment to strengthening the transatlantic link in such a strategic area as international financial architecture.
