Fernando Prieto

Career diplomat serving since 1992. From 2016-2021, he served as Political Counselor at the Spanish Embassy in Washington, DC. He has worked in U.S. issues since 2002. He was the Deputy Director for North America in the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2007-2010), Secretary General of the Fundación Consejo España – EE.UU. (2007 – 2008), and First Secretary at the Political Section of the Spanish Embassy in Washington, DC (2002 – 2007). He earned a Master’s degree in international service from American University in Washington (2016).

He has also worked in Latin America issues. He was posted to the embassies of Spain in Colombia and El Salvador, and he worked in the Directorate General for Latin America at the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He also was professional staff of the Organization of American States, OAS, within the General Secretariat of the organization.

He has also been posted to the embassies of Spain in Mozambique and Namibia.
