The international trade landscape, shaped by recent developments in the relationship between the United States and the European Union, has a significant impact on Spanish companies, both in Spain and in other markets where they operate, such as Latin America or China. Factors such as the evolution of tariffs, the dynamics of U.S. economic growth, and fluctuations in the dollar are key elements to consider for business and strategic planning.

To address these issues and better understand how they could affect Spanish business activity, the Spain–U.S. Council Foundation organized Tariffs: Uncertainty and Decision-Making at the White House, an exclusive meeting for its patrons with José Parra and Rachel Alexander, experts from FGS Global, a public affairs firm and member of the Foundation’s counterpart, the United States–Spain Council.

During the session, key aspects were explored, including the decision-making mechanisms in U.S. international trade, the criteria guiding the adoption of tariff measures, and the role of different institutions in this process. The conversation provided a detailed and practical perspective on how U.S. and European trade decisions can influence the strategy and operations of Spanish companies in the global context.
