The Fundación holds its 125th Board of Trustees meeting at the Repsol Campus
During the meeting, upcoming events were previewed, including visitor programs, the Galardón Bernardo de Gálvez, and the 29th Spain–U.S. Forum, and the latest political and trade developments between the two countries were discussed

The Fundación Consejo España – EE. UU. held its 125th Board of Trustees meeting on March 4, 2026, chaired by Josu Jon Imaz, at the Repsol Campus.
The meeting provided an opportunity to review the activities carried out since the last Board session. Highlights included the successful lectures on Spain’s legacy in North America, coordinated by Eduardo Garrigues at Casa América, as well as the collaboration in the Transatlantic Relations Seminar organized by the Franklin Institute and the “EU–US Emerging Leaders” visitation program, which allowed young U.S. finance experts to meet with ministries, board members, and leadership networks. The meeting also reviewed the “Encounters for Dialogue on Artificial Intelligence” series, organized together with IndesIA and Casa América, and the visit of students from the Global and International Studies master’s program at the University of Salamanca, focused on la Fundación’s public diplomacy work and the importance of nurturing the bilateral relationship.

Regarding the future agenda, the activity calendar for the second quarter of 2026 was presented, which includes the welcome event for the U.S. Ambassador, Benjamín León, in Madrid, the second online session on trade policy and tariffs under the Trump Administration, the presentation of the painting “From Texas to Victory: A Spanish Contribution to the Independence of the U.S.” by Augusto Ferrer Dalmau at the National Historical Archive, as well as the collaboration in the International Congress on Spain–North America Relations, where a documentary on the Emigrantes Invisibles exhibition will be screened. The visitation programs for young U.S. leaders and Hispanic leaders from the United States, which strengthen networks of friendship and cooperation between the two countries, were also reviewed and are scheduled to take place in the coming months.

During the session, the upcoming presentation of the Galardón Bernardo de Gálvez to the city of St. Augustine (Florida), scheduled for June 12 in Avilés, Asturias, was highlighted, and preparations were outlined for the 29th Spain–U.S. Forum, which will take place in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on November 13 and 14, with high-level speakers expected to participate.
Regarding current bilateral developments, Luis Fonseca, Director General for North America, Eastern Europe, Asia, and the Pacific at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union, and Cooperation, and Isabel Rata, Deputy Director General for Ibero-America and North America at the Secretariat of State for Trade, briefly analyzed the latest news and developments affecting the Spain–U.S. relationship.
