The ’Forever Young Leaders’ Network Celebrates Its Commitment to Spain in Washington D.C.

The Forever Young Leaders Network Was Once Again Welcomed in Washington D.C. by Ambassador Ángeles Moreno to Reaffirm Its Commitment to Spain and Look Ahead to the Future of Bilateral Relations

22 November 2025

The Ambassador of Spain to the United States, Ángeles Moreno, hosted a reception at her residence in Washington D.C. in honor of the members of the U.S.–Spain Forever Young Leaders Network, the network launched by the Fundación Consejo España – EE.UU. and the United States Spain Council to strengthen connections and collaboration among participants of the flagship Young American Leaders program.

The event, which brought together approximately 80 attendees, is part of the annual program of activities jointly organized by both institutions and underscores their shared commitment to keeping this space for dialogue, cooperation, and professional development active and cohesive.

A Day Marked by Messages of Commitment and Forward-Looking Vision

The reception began with a welcome address by Ambassador Ángeles Moreno, who highlighted the power of Spanish as a global language, recalled Spain’s historical contribution to the independence of the United States, and framed the event on the eve of the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence, to be celebrated in 2026.

Next, Fernando Prieto, Secretary General of the Fundación Consejo España – EE.UU., spoke about the strategic importance of the program for the Foundation and the lasting commitment participants maintain to Spain after completing their experience in the country. He emphasized that the strong turnout at the reception was “clear evidence of this enduring connection” and encouraged attendees to continue engaging with the Foundation’s initiatives, including the upcoming Spain–United States Forum.

On behalf of the United States Spain Council, its Executive Director, Catherine Pino, emphasized the value of the network for the Council as a space for professional and personal exchange among generations of U.S. leaders connected to Spain.

Congressman Gabe Vásquez (New Mexico) also addressed the attendees, highlighting the importance of Spain and the Hispanic community in the history and identity of the United States, as well as the role of networks like this one in strengthening mutual understanding.

The speaking session concluded with remarks from two members of the network: Marvin Figueroa, a participant from the 2019 cohort, and Blanchi Roblero, representing the 2025 cohort. Both shared their reflections on the personal and professional impact of the program and highlighted the value of the community that has developed around it.

A Growing Community

Launched at the end of 2023, the U.S.–Spain Forever Young Leaders Network brings together participants of the Young American Leaders program, co-organized since 2001 by the Fundación Consejo España – EE.UU. and the United States Spain Council. Over its more than two decades of history, this visitor program has enabled nearly 200 U.S. professionals aged 30 to 45, with high-profile careers and potential, to gain first-hand insight into contemporary Spain’s political, economic, social, and cultural realities.

Through this network, both institutions maintain ongoing relationships with participants, provide a stable space to strengthen ties, share experiences, and collaborate across generations, and facilitate their connection to initiatives aimed at fostering the bilateral relationship.
